Pediatric Dentist in Victoria

Dr. Anita Gadzinska-Myers, BA, DMD, FRCD(C)

Dr. Myers' road to becoming a pediatric dentist in Victoria was long and unexpected, however looking back it makes sense that this is what she was destined to do.

Dr. Myers moved to Vancouver from Poland when she was 14 years old to be reunited with her parents after a 5 year separation.

While completing her undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of British Columbia, she worked at the BC Children's Hospital as a research assistant in the Oncology Department.  At the same time while volunteering at the Riverview Hospital (a psychiatric hospital) for 3 years she became committed to working with those with special needs. Dr. Myers also obtained a Diploma in Child Psychology in her quest to better understand child behaviour.

After being inspired by her dentist and many fillings later, she decided to pursue a career in dentistry at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver.

Dr.Myers loved her work as a general dentist and never thought of specializing in any other field. However, after several years of practice, she found that the highlight of her day was always treating children.  She wanted to learn more and be the best dentist for kids!

After further deliberation, she decided to take the brave step and go back to university with her family, completing an additional 2 years of training in Pediatric Dentistry at the Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Her training included providing care at the esteemed Joe DiMaggio Hospital. Dr.Myers was also the only resident in her program to also obtain a Fellowship in Special Needs Dentistry.

After successfully passing the rigorous board examinations, Dr. Myers became a Fellow of the Royal College of Specialists in Canada.

Dr. Myers is one of the team members at the Cleft Lip and Palate Clinic at the Queen Alexander Centre for Children's Health in Victoria where children with cleft lip and palate on the island are treated.

Now that her kids are off to university, Dr.Myers is diving into new passions, like learning Russian and Mandarin.
